This MG Midget is a classic 60's British sportscar built in the Abingdon MG factory in June 1966 and first registered on 1st July 1966.     This car was ordered in Tartan Red with a matching tonneau cover which is still with the car.     Also with the car are the later additions of a works style hardtop in Old English White and a rare Ashley GT hardtop giving the option of a sporty 'gt coupe' look.     Of course it still looks best with the hood down.     The original owner looked after this car for 21 years and the second owner for over 18 years.

What was happening in July 1966?     The number 1 single was 'Paperback Writer' by The Beatles, Jack Brabham won the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch on 16th July, Michael Caine was 'Alfie' ...oh and England won the World Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on 30th July.     Twiggy was the Face of '66 but the top selling album of the year wasn't by the Beatles or the Stones... it was the original soundtrack to 'The Sound of Music'.
